Most Feelings Are Habitual

Our minds are constantly flowing from one thought to another. This habit of thinking must be checked every so often.

If we don’t watch our thoughts, we can run into the problem of feeling negatively about things.

It’s difficult to attract any good if we’re not in the right mind-state. And out of habit, many people fall into the sheep mentality, the woe is me mentality, and that’s not coming from a place of power.

But like any habitual feeling, we can shift our negative into a positive. There’s different ways to go about this. Regardless, it requires a shift in focus.

How we feel on a consistent basis depends on our ability to feel a certain way for a long enough period of time till it becomes habitual. I think creating the habit of thinking good thoughts, solution based thoughts, and using those to feel better regardless of circumstances will be one way to shift perspectives.

This isn’t to downplay the effects of touchy subjects like depression. Anyone who is willing should be able to reach out for help. And those who are close need a level of empathy to help them out too.

But is it not our habits that makes something chronic? Do we not need to change the habitual way of thinking if we want to change how we feel?

Of course the ego mind is going to retaliate. It hates anything that’s not within the norm of day to day living. And if negative thinking has been someone’s “normal”, changing it will require conscious effort and work.

I think you’re worth it though. I believe anyone can do it. And it seems like anyone who’s made it a habit to think of positive solutions to any situation have become more happy, healthy, and wealthy.
